                                                      SONG OF PRIDE

Here I sit on the church pew,

Listening to pastor preach at you!

The things you do; my oh my!

-will take you to hell when you die.

You better hear and change your way,

Straighten your act, get right today,

You should be good and perfect like me,

That's what Pastor wants you to see.

Oh I know you think I'm the one,

He is hollering at until he's done.

But I never judge, the way you do,

I am righteous the whole day through.

It's only tonight I've got this revelation,

In order to deliver you from damnation.

In fact I am the only one here tonight.

That doesn't need to pray and get things right.

It's you and all these other poor lost souls,

That needs to pray and get made whole!

“I”

It's I said me, I'm greater than you are,

No it's me said I, I do more than you by far.

It's I said me, I give more in the offering plate,

No it's me said I, 'cause I'm never late.

It's I said me, I pay tithe and I fast,

No it's me said I, I've got a cleaner past.

It's I, it's me, the argument goes on,

It's me; it's I all the day long.

It's I, it’s me, better listen to Paul,

It's not I nor me, or what you've done at all.

For by grace are ye saved, not of I, you or me,

Lest we boast it's by faith... .now can you see?

LIFE'S BATTLES

Life's battles sure get rough

One must be determined and tough

In order to make it over yon’ hill

Fasten seat belt and have strong will

As long as we breathe the breath of life

Some days will be calm, some full of strife

The longer you live the more you learn

To make good butter there must be a churn

Each battle we face has a victory

One more burden has set us free

If we don't give up 'till the battle is won

We'll receive our crown when the day is done

PREACHER MAN

There's that man preaching again,

speaking of heaven, shouting at sin.

Scolding the saints for not praying enough,

readin' the bible; fasting and stuff.

He's readin' us poems and quoting the Word,

why some of this stuff I've never heard.

On and on he keeps telling the story,

about Gods' love and of heavens glory.

And now he's giving the altar call,

we need to go pray one and all.

And while we are there repenting of sin-

thank God for a man that preaches; again and again.

 THE GREAT COMMISSION

There is a commission given by God,

To Saints alive upon this sod.

A commission to preach to all creation,

This message of Christ-wonderful Salvation.

All power is given to Jesus the Saviour,

In Him only can we find Gods' favor.

Go preach and witness to all on earth,

Tell of His resurrection, death and Birth.

Bring them in; bring them one by one.

Lead them to Christ; Gods' only Son.

Obey this commission; preach it to men,

Tell them the story, again and again.

Sunday Night Church

It's Sunday night and we're in church again,

Listening to Pastor preach against sin.

Ezekiel and Matthew and Deuteronomy,

He's telling it straight at you and me.

It's good to go to church on a Sunday night,

We need the preaching to keep us right.

So pray for the church and the preacher man,

And attend those meetings as oft as you can.

 SONGS OF FIRE

The songs of fire, the songs of praise

Old Gospel numbers our voices raise

Guitars, yes and the hand-clappin' song

Pianos and drums; music from God's throng

I love to hear those Camp-meetin' style tunes

That sing of heaven and His coming soon

So sing it loud and from your heart

And I'll open my ears and do my part.

 CHURCH IS OUT

IT'S NINE O'CLOCK CHURCH IS OUT

WE HAD A GOOD MEETING THERE'S NO DOUBT

FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES WERE ALL THERE

WE HUMBLY BOWED OUR HEADS IN PRAYER

THE SONGS OF GLORY WE DID SING

WE MADE THOSE 'OLE RAFTERS RING

TESTIMONY TIME WAS SO VERY GOOD

AS EACH OF US TOLD WHERE WE STOOD

THE USHERS COME BY WITH THE OFFERING PLATE

THAT'S THE PART THAT SOME JUST HATE

THEN THE PREACHER GOT UP TO DO HIS PART

TELLING US ALL TO OPEN OUR HEART

AND LET JESUS COME IN AND CHANGE OUR LIFE

HE'LL CAST OUT FEAR AND MELT ALL STRIFE

WE WENT TO THE ALTER AND PRAYED AWHILE

EACH ONE GOT UP WITH A BRAND NEW SMILE

SHAKING HANDS AND GREETING EACH OTHER

LIKE ONE BIG FAMILY EACH SISTER AND BROTHER

NOW AS WE PART THIS WORSHIP PLACE

THANKING GOD FOR HIS SWEET GRACE

LET US SHARE HIS LOVE WITH OTHERS

BPINGING IN NEW SISTERS AND BROTHERS.

WHO'S AFRAID OF PRAYER?

THEY NO LONGER READ THE BIBLE IN SCHOOL,

NEITHER DO THEY TEACH THE GOLDEN RULE.

IT'S AGAINST THE LAW TO LEAD CHILDREN IN PRAYER,

THE COURTS SAYS IT'S NOT RIGHT TO DO IT THERE.

THOU SHALT NOT KILL, STEAL, OR COMMIT ADULTERY,

THESE THINGS OUR TEACHERS TAUGHT TO YOU AND ME

WASHINGTON HAS SENATORS, LAWYERS AND JUDGES TOO

CONGRESSMEN, PRESIDENTS, OTHERS,. WHAT EVER THEY DO.

WHAT'S THE MATTER THESE MEN, SUPPOSED TO BE GROWN."

SOME DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD AS IS PLAINLY SHOWN.

POOR OLE' FELLOWS, AFRAID OF THE PRAYER OF A CHILD,

TO SAY THEY ARE COWARDS IS SOMEWHAT MILD.

FOR WHAT HARM COULD THESE KIDS DO WHEN THEY PRAY?

TO WASHINGTON; ALMIGHTY GOD DOES NOT EXIST ANYWAY.

YOUR VICTORY IS WON

Are you discouraged, are you down-

Is your face wrinkled up, with a frown?

Are you like Joseph way down in a pit-

Is your mind convinced it's time to quit?

Is your faith in the coat of colors so bright-

Are you looking for an exit to make your flight?

Are you reaching up toward the bottom of the hole-

Are you prayers continually: have mercy on my soul?

Look up my friend things are not all that bad,

The devils a looser he’s already been had.

Look up the scriptures you see it's not too late,

The place to go now - Romans eight: twenty-eight.

This is the message that the bible has spoken,

Your chains of death and bondage are broken.

This is the light the darkness can’t comprehend,

Your victory is won you'll see the enemy’s’ end.

JUDGMENT

Judgment is coming, that's for sure,

And only the righteous will endure.

All will be there both big and small,

Presidents and kings; senators and all.

The rich will be there and the poor will too,

Indeed my friend, I'll be there and so will you.

Our Creator himself will sit on the Throne,

While all the unsaved will stand alone.

Yes, God shall judge all the hearts of men,

Taking account of where each has been.

A frightening event the judgment will be,

When God opens up secrets for all to see.

Yes, Judgment is coming and this is true,

But, Jesus made a way out, for me and for you.

Upon Calverys' cross He paved the way,

So as to save us on the judgment day.

Do call on him now and repent of your sin,

Accept his atonement and be born again.

'Cause judgment day is coming, it's for sure,

And only the redeemed shall endure.

In his hand

I cannot understand some things in life,

Killing and war, murder and strife.

I cannot understand what some people do,

Cursing and hating their whole life through.

I cannot understand the life some live,

Taking all they can get and never to give.

I cannot understand the lies that some tell,

In order their own philosophy to sell.

I cannot understand the mind of a hypocrite,

For sure some day judgment they’ll get.

I may not understand all the things that be,

But I know the one that died for me.

I may not understand all the evils of earth,

But I know the one that gave me new birth.

I may not understand why liars live on and on,

But I know the one who gave me a song.

I may not understand all the things of gloom,

But I know that man of the upper room.

I may not understand the evils of this land,

But I know the one with the world in his hand.

A TALL MAN

I didn't know the man at all,

But in my mind he sure stood tall.

Driving up and down the road,

His responsibility a heavy load.

He wore the badge with honor and pride,

Even in danger not stepping aside.

He was there for you and there for me,

Although’ some just could not see.

When we were in trouble he was our friend,

He done his duty right to the end.

Giving himself to protect the land,

From those who had a greedy hand.

The risk was high and the pay too low,

Yet this great man was willing to go.

I never got to know this man,

Nor’ will I ever understand.

Why he had to die this way,

Just why this price he had to pay.

His family now with heart-rending pain,

Struggling their lives to regain.

Let us send our love to you,

For we are at loss what else to do.

And all these words seem so small,

For a man that stood so very TALL.

FROM BLISS TO BATTLE

I wonder why he's preaching on this,

Speaking of battle instead of bliss?

Why does the Lord lead us there,

Battle field instead of a garden fair?

We want to stay on the pleasant side,

Where we're warm, full and behind him hide.

Sheltered within His protective arm,

Guarded, shielded - from all harm.

Wonder why we have to listen to this,

Hearing of war instead of bliss?

Now he said it, he said the word,

Something like this I've never heard.

A vision calls to battle instead of bliss,

That's why the man is preaching like this.

Says the Word; "with no vision we parish"

In spite of the bliss we all so cherish.

So if you're in Eden in a rocking chair,

Get down on your knees in fervent prayer.

Seek God for a vision, a vision today,

Then you'll know why; He's preaching this way!
